Easy Apple Crisp

Happy birthday to my wonderful, amazing father!! A perfect role model, a fun-loving grandfather and an overall great man. Plus a young man! According to Facebook, today he is 34 years old! Only 5 years older than his daughter. So happy birthday to my young, hip, technology-impaired Dad! He's the best in the world and I think I'll keep him :)

Apple crisp is one of the easiest desserts to make and is also the most gratifying. Layering the apples in the bottom of the pan is easy and effortless stuff, guys. The only other step is mixing the topping ingredients together and sprinkling them on top. Easy peasy. Bake this in the oven so the apples get super soft and the "crisp" gets, well, crispy. Pair this will a large scoop of vanilla ice cream and your dessert is served. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 5 large baking apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2" slices
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 4 tbsp. cold butter
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8x8" pan with cooking spray.

Lay apple slices on the bottom of the prepared pan.

Mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, oats, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a bowl. Cut butter into small pieces and cut into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or two forks.

Once dry ingredients are combined, sprinkle over top of the apples.

Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
